My Definition Of Success | As a young mum, I measured my success in terms of my investment in my two daughters. I wanted to be around for them and I chose to work around their schedules. It was a season and a conscious choice.
As they got older, I created a variety of ways of working and adding value that brought and still brings me and others, great joy. I understood that to be relevant, I needed to look at the market and see where the voids where and how I could add value in practical and creative ways. I realised that as an educator, coach and author, I could create a business which served many.
Today success means I have the freedom to travel, learn, teach, collaborate and contribute, as and when I like, in creative, fun, practical ways and I like that I get even better at combining all these values as I get older.
Hopefully I will leave a legacy of being an invitation, for myself and others, to look inside, to knowing that we are enough and that we have all that we need to be, do and have what we want, in a way that serves us and others.
I am driven by | The opportunity to remind people they are magnificent. The opportunity to be the invitation to connect with self and others, gets my heart singing. A huge YES happens in my head, heart and hands when inviting, igniting, shifting and transforming thinking, speaking, being and doing, whether with a coaching client, a group of teachers, Mums, parents, a hospitality team and NGO, whatever. I love the feeling of the energy in room, the “ahaaaa”, the shining eyes, the switching on the LIGHT. Given I am blessed to be here in this space, with the gifts that I have, at this time, I feel have a responsibility to share and have fun doing so.
I think my ‘MAGIC’ comes from | Definitely from Source or whatever you wish to call it.
The Difference Between good And Great | Easy, they really love what they do. Their work is their play and they do what it takes to deliver a great service.
A Key Talent | I believe there is more than one! I like to think that I am a brave risk-taker, with an ability to shift my focus as I connect, collaborate, create, contribute and play, in a variety of ways that serves me and others. My clients include schools, teachers, parents, NGO’s, Lodges, Corporates, WWF -SASSI and Unions, to mention just a few.
I am generous with my connections, as I see and hear the person/ people I am fortunate to work with and for, way beyond just the time we spend together either in a workshop, coaching or other capacity. I understand that I am in the relationship building business. As creators, coaches and facilitators, we get to connect, collaborate and create in ways that support and meet the needs of the people in the room.
I choose to “get out of the way” and to be the conduit of what is most needed. It never ends well when I think I am very clever! Each person is a gift and whether I have 1 or 200 people in the room, I always give them my mobile number and they can choose to stay connected on WhatsApp or SMS. Connecting, caring, collaborating and creating is my strength.
Principles I Live By | Show up, step up and give back in a way that makes you and others smiles.
Critical Skills I Develop | I believe when our thinking, speaking, being and doing are aligned, we are in flow. I am a great believer in energy and vibration. I believe our words are our sword and I practice getting better at using them to encourage and engage, myself and others.
I believe my ME is creating all the time. My Energy – >My Emotions -> My Environment-> My Experience, etc.
My most important task is to be aware of my thinking and to line up the rest with that, as I believe that our thoughts become things. Please note, if I can get better at this skill, then we all can!
How I Use My Mind | In 2006, Dr John Demartini opened a whole new way of thinking for me. I will always be grateful for his teachings and impact on my life. I love John Kehoe’s Mind Power and quantum energy work and there are many more teachers that I have learnt from and continue to learn from. I use routines like doing a little “beditation” before I get out of bed every morning, a thank you in the evening, meditation, lighting a candle, gratitude journaling, podcasts and webinars, reading and attending workshops as a learner. I continually invest in my own learning as all the above contribute to strengthening my body, mind, spirit connection.
Performing At My Peak | I use affirmations, visualisation and future-pacing. I get enough sleep, power nap if I need to, eat well, walk, swim and schedule I down time. I know what’s on my LOVE LIST and add some of those extras to my day eg If I am working in Franschhoek, I will pop into Babylonstoren for a walk. I will always try and combine gratitude for where I find myself with a little exploring in the area.
If I “mess up” and feel like the workshop/ session, could have been better, I choose to get the message and remind myself that next time I will….. I commit to reflecting and learning.
Advice On Building Wealth | If being wealthy is your only goal, I would invite you to look again and see where you can build wealth which will be measured way beyond your bank balance. One of my coaches once told me, wealth is how much money you can make once you lose everything.
I am inspired by | Those individuals who are brave, kind, resilient, who show up to work with a smile even when they feel down, who understand that their behaviour matters, those who are keen to learn, who apply what they learn, who sacrifice so others can have a better life, who serve in a way that makes a difference.
